Students, See Extra Maker's Monday Assignments Below!
For those who don't know...what is Maker's Monday?
Maker’s Monday is a class taught through a school program aimed at a variety of things. Below are simply the extra activities which we do not cover in class. However, in class students will first learn how to 3D model on a computer, then how to export and print their designs in real life. They will then learn about how they can combine prints with other materials and techniques to both solve issues and create novel ideas. Students will get a good glimpse at the design process and how to learn from prototyping and failure to make new and better designs. Because of this not only ill students learn a new skill set with immense value in the modern world, but they will also learn critical thinking and problem solving techniques crucial for any strong thinker. Students will learn how to apply what they learn to real issues and use them to form solutions. The class is an amazing opportunity for makers of all sorts to get a grasp on the design process and gain access to some new tools and skills they may not have had access to prior! In itself it is a great example of the teaching of creative thought which we delve into in the STEMIFY blog. Assignment: Tinkercad1.1 - Make a nametag!
In this activity we will start our first project in the 3D modeling environment, today in a program called Tinkercad. Beginning with a drawing of a symbol which represents themselves, students will learn how to take their drawings into 3D. From there they will follow steps to make a nametag which they will use in the classroom and take home after the program. For many this will be their very first 3D print!
